Rosas Lounge is an original document that reveals the act of writing as one of the most important creative collective processes behind the work Rosas by Italian artist Marinella Senatore. Last of a trilogy, specifically conceived for the screen, Rosas was realized involving a whole movie cast and a crew made up of more than 20.000 persons – who have contributed for over a year to every single stage of the creative process. Each act has been realized in a different European city, thanks to the support of three different institutions: the Kunstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin, The Quad Museum in Derby and the Matadero in Madrid. Marinella Senatore directly involved several communities of people in the making-of, and the public itself witnessed the entire creative process – from the writing to the production. A participatory artwork that activated local energies and converted them in abilities and useful competences.
Divided in three acts, as is the actual work, the book Rosas Lounge unveils part of this process, gathering together the original documents provided by the participants as well as the final script. In accordance with the actual diversification of the participants – subjects of various age, gender and social-cultural background – these contributions have been published in full, without any intervention or editing by the artist or the publisher.
